Just call me Imelda....

I love shoes. I am not a very materialistic person, I don't NEED a lot of THINGS. But I LOVE shoes. I feel about shoes the way that most women feel about make up. I can't go out of the house in a pair of icky shoes. And I like lots of different styles. Chunky Dr. Martens for casual, work wear. High (really, like 3 -4 inches) heels for dress up, casual heels for church type things. I love shoes. Unlike some women who complain about how their feet hurt in high heels, I feel that the higher the heel, the better. Of course, I have strong toes, since I walk on my toes (my friend Biz Beth says that I walk like Kermit the frog...) due to a short tendon that didn't get fixed til I was about 3. I'm comfortable in heels. AND, my grandmother taught me how to walk in heels. It irks me to no end when I see women in BEAUTIFUL shoes tottering around in them, unable to walk steadily. When in heels, one should walk with their shoulders back, head held high, and one foot in front of the other. Walk with confidence. Wear the shoes, don't let the shoes wear you. Your hips should sway alluringly, not cause an earthquake. Walking in good high heels is an artform. Sigh.

So anyhow, I went shoe shopping tonight. I saw a pair of Kenneth Cole heels that I would have given my left arm for. Well, maybe not. But oh my, they were sassy! And for Kenneth Cole to be sassy, well, if you know anything about shoes, you know what I mean. But I had my heart set on finding the pair of Doc Martens that I wanted... and I FOUND THEM!! I've been looking for these shoes for a while. Yes, I could have bought them off of the website, but I wanted to try them on. So I found them. I have them in my possession. I have them in my sight. Oh shoes. Oh cute chunky shoes. :)

After shoe shopping, we went to SteaknShake over by TriCounty Mall. Never again. Never ever ever. I was HUNGRY, and when I get hungry, I get mean. Well, when we got in SNS, it was NOT busy. Three servers, 9 tables with customers. Our waitress walked past us THREE times before she gave us silverware (2 sets for 4 people). Then our food came out before our drinks. Then Aaron had to ask FOUR times for our side dishes and silverware. She brought out Aaron's coke, but not mine and my friend's water..... um, ok. I'm generally nice to servers, have lots of patience with them, since I used to waitress... but this chick, she took the cake! If I could, without getting sued for libel, I would post her name and picture under Worst Servers in the World. But having a hubby who is a lawyer keeps me from doing things like that. :)

Had to buy a new hot water heater today. Went downstairs to the laundry room (yes, I thought it would be nice to have clean underwear tomorrow) and whoa! A flood in the laundry room. Called Aaron to come home, he called his dad. We called the plumbers. Got a new hot water heater.... OUCH! But at least I can do that laundry and have clean underwear now :) hoo ray!

I have no deep thoughts tonight, I don't think. Little Ethan did not say anything so cute that I have to blog it, nor did he do anything outrageously cute, other than dancing to the Laurie Berkener songs in the car. If you've never heard of Laurie Berkener and you have young children, RUN, don't walk, to your nearest CD store, and BUY one of her CD's. Better yet, log onto amazon.com and look her up. Kids love her, and goodness knows, listening to her sing her quirky and fun songs is better than listening to Veggie Tales AGAIN! Go, go now, and get her music. It will make you giggle, and keep you sane in the car. No longer will you have to listen to the Itsy Bitsy Spider with crappy piano accompianament, now you can listen to We are the Dinosaurs, with fun drums and guitar strums. :) I guess that's my tip of the day! :)

We have dance party almost every night and Ella dances to "Victor Vito," "BumbleBee," and "We are The Dinosaurs"--Ella's favorite.

And while shoes are a passion of mine, I have been in a shoe shopping slump of late. Bought a new pair of Keen's at Track and Trail and a new pair of shoes for the gym. Since we no longer go anywhere or do anything, I have no reason for pretty shoes. Sigh...

Ethan loves "We are the Dinosaurs" and "These are my glasses." It's kinda funny, he acts out the songs while we're driving to and from school. :)

Who needs an excuse to buy pretty shoes? Just buy them (if you can afford them), keep them in your closet in the box (and if you're REALLY persnickity, put a picture on the box of the shoes) and wait for the perfect moment to wear them. I have been known to buy shoes and have nothing to wear with and nowhere to go in the shoes. But they called to me, and eventually, their event was found! :):) But I totally understand... now that we have a three year old, life is a LOT different... no more fancy dinners, dress up events, etc.
Still, one must indulge oneself in shoes when necessary :)!

Have you tried Febreze for your stinky sandals? It has worked on that sour milk smell on the carseat's pastic. :)

hey nicole! Have not tried febreze... that's a good idea tho'. However, if you read one of my recent posts, then you'll know that I would rather go out and buy a new pair of pretty sandals! :):) tee hee!
