Smurfland

The Smurf song is going through my head. Yeah, I know. The only words are "La la la la la la, la la la la." Bet you have it in your head now too. Hethan refuses to watch the Smurfs. So disappointing to me. I loved the Smurfs as a kid. Of course, I also used to think that they really lived in the storm drains on our street when we lived in the city. I wasn't quite right in the head, even then.

I was re reading April's blog today, and one section really hit me again. It's the part where she writes about she and Jon not having kids--- and kids are NOT a DEFINITE with them. Sigh. I hate it that she even has to defend their choice not to be parents right away, if ever. I thought the whole point of progress in this country was so that people could have a choice. If they choose not to have children, it's fine. That just means that they can spoil my kids more! No, seriously--- where is it written that you MUST have children in order to be a family? I see so many people who should NEVER have had children--- yet they continue to procreate. At least couples like Jon and April are smart enough not to bring children into this world until they're sure they're willing to take on the lifetime responsibility of children. Growl to all those who think that without children, other people aren't complete. Newsflash--- you can be complete sans children. There are those who need children to be complete, but not everyone does.

Now, that being said, I applaud those who choose to have children (such as myself) and try to do a good job in raising their children. Personally, I have learned a lot about the nature of unconditional love as I have more experiences with my own children. I begin to have a deeper understanding of God's love for me. BUT! That's how it works for me. Not everyone has to have children in order to understand how God loves them. This is how He chose to show me his love. For which I am exceedinly grateful.

Hethan has a severe ear infection! We're on Omnicef. Yay. He's threatening to call the police on me because I won't get up RIGHT NOW and change the channel for him. Ahhh, the joys of a four year old. Starbuck continues to stink and be gassy. I asked the dr. about her lack of poops today... he said it could just be that she's using every bit the breast milk, and therefore, there's no waste to eliminate. Since I weighed her and she's 8 lbs with her clothes on, I know she's gaining weight, so I'll try not to worry about it too much. :)

Ok. I'm going to go change the channel for Hethan. What a good mommy I am. Bleh.

Look at you, with your British spelling of "humOUr, even!" You're a true philologist. I think you love words even more that I do!

Look at this great quote I found on writing and words...

Words - so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

I'm posting this and some more on my blog... :)

Darn that song. LALALaLaLALAla.... Have you watched since you were a mom? I get bored watching it now too. Used to be my favorite SAturday morning cartoon. My mom would always sleep in till it was on and we joined her in her room to watch. Ahh memories.
