Drama o Rama

This weekend was a mini family reunion for me. I got to see cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, great aunts, brothers, sisters, nephews, cats, and snakes that I haven't seen in ages (if ever...). I LOVED it!!

But here's the fun part. Watching family dynamics. I know it was even more fun for Aaron than it was for me. I loved watching my teenage cousins interact with their siblings, with their parents. I loved watching them interact with my mom and with our grandparents. My cousins have a totally different relationship with my grandmothers and my great aunt than my brother and I do. Jon and I grew up with our grandmas being a daily/weekly part of our lives. Jon still gets to be in their lives on a daily basis... So we have a different relationship with them than our cousins, who only get to see the grandmas 1-4 times a year, if that often. It's not a "better" relationship, just "different." It tickled me to see my cousins get to know each other a little bit better, and it tickled me to get to know them a little bit better myself.

However, at the end of the weekend, drama ensued. My cousin, Tif, was gonna come up here to stay with us for a week before we sent her back to Washington state. Except when we were walking down the stairs from the computer room, where we were verifying flight possibilities--- she slipped and sprained her ankle. Thus ended Tif's impromptu trip to our abode. I'm gonna talk to my uncle and try to get her out here sometime again... :) Silly ankles!

The National Geographic channel is FASCINATING. I remember as a child, I used to sit in the study at my grandparents (back when there was still a study and they hadn't remodeled the house with the huge kitchen) and look through the stacks of National Geographic magazines that my grandpa had. Yes, even as a child, I was a total and complete geek. :) And now, as an adult, I love having the National Geographic channel. Have you ever watched Taboo??? I think I'm going to Tivo Sunday's episode. It looks very interesting.

You know what I don't watch, though? Food Network. I'm afraid that if I watched too much of that channel, I would want to cook all sorts of things. OR that I would walk around hungry all day, craving something I saw on that channel. Yeah, that's the real reason.

This stupid keyboard is sticking again.
My laptop is unhappy again.
Starbuck is FINALLY eating more than milk!
Aaron is attempting to make dill pickles. Update on that in a few weeks.
My yard was forked last week. Pictures soon.

I'm done!

Ahhh! My dad used to save all of his NG magazines on the bottom shelf of the bookcase in their bedroom... which is now the bookcase in MY bedroom, sans NG magazines. :-) Memories!
